Also affectionately known locally as "The Blue Sisters", we support Sr Pia and the six sisters providing a home, "The God Child Home for Abandoned Handicapped or Needy Children" for 18 children from babies upwards. Some of the children are orphans; others have simply been abandoned. In the West Bank to be born with a severe disability places a huge financial burden on families as well as fear and shame that the child is a curse on the family. The Sisters provide a loving, happy home for the children and at the same time work unceasingly to change attitudes and encourage families to accept and be involved in care for their children.
