"Wherever the Catholic sun doth shine, there's always laughter and good red wine. At least I've always found it so: Benedicamus Domino!" - "The Catholic Sun" Hilaire Belloc (1870-1953)
Cremisan wines are produced from three vineyards in the Holy Land by the Catholic Salesian Community in their winery on the cool, wooded slopes outside Bethlehem in the Occupied Territories of the West Bank. The vines are cultivated without pesticides or chemicals and pruned by hand. The grapes are handpicked.
Cremisan combines classical Italian methods of wine-making with viticulture suitable for the Middle East to produce a range of fine and distinctive table wines.
For over a hundred years the Salesians of Don Bosco have been producing wine to support their main work for poor children in the Holy Land and to provide a livelihood for local families.
Cremisan Altar (Communion) Wines
The two altar wines produced by Cremisan are both certified by the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem for celebration of the Eucharist. They are therefore pure wines produced in accordance with the Code of Canon Law 1983, Canon 924: "For validity, the wine used at Mass must be made from the fruit of the vine, natural and pure, unmixed with anything else."

Carving olive wood is a centuries' old tradition of Bethlehem people and a mainstay of the economy. The pieces are either carved from the block entirely by hand, or first roughly-shaped by machine and then hand- finished and polished. The sizes vary a little, as do the colours because of the natural grain (please state if you prefer a lighter or darker grain) and because each piece is unique.
