News from Bethlehem Friends

Posted on Wednesday, March 30, 2011

"Every patient is first and foremost a human being" - is the beautiful reminder at the entrance of the Bethlehem Arab Society for Rehabilitation - BASR. Mary Matta tells us that the hospital always needs towels, pillow cases and sheets, big bibs for the children and educational toys.  We can take them out with us or collect funds to buy them in Bethlehem and give a little help to the local economy. Meanwhile, for Sr Pia and the Blue Sisters a huge help for them will be the funds to buy "Pampers" - 15 of the18 children need them and they cost a fortune. (Remember the shortage of water and its expense rule out nappies to wash) Not very glamorous but really needed! We have started the PAMPER THEM project to collect the £4,000 per year that the Sisters need - and we'll see what we can negotiate to buy a year's worth. Finally we are about to add a lot of new products to the olive wood shop and to stock Spikenard in several sizes plus the lotions and creams. Keep in touch with us.

Bethlehem Evenings are a great way to try and buy Palestinian wines.

Bethlehem Evenings

We are very happy to come to your parish or group to give a presentation, provide Palestinian refreshments and wine tasting as well as bringing the wines, olive wood and oil for people to buy.
